Certainty of flu symptoms in just one PCR run
Coronavirus or influenza? Patients' symptoms do not provide any information about the causative pathogens. However, in order to contain the flare-up of further outbreaks of infection with SARS-CoV-2, quick and reliable test results are the most important thing that can provide a reliable answer.
Influenza A viruses can also cause widespread waves of influenza – up to continental pandemics with severe to life-threatening disease courses. Even Influenza B viruses can trigger diseases, some of which are of moderate severity. A rapid diagnosis of the corresponding virus strain facilitates the treatment of the symptoms that occur.
With ViroQ SARS-FluA/B-RSV, we have therefore developed an innovative test kit, which detects in a single test run
- Influenza A
- Influenza B
in the sample material taken. In addition, the real-time kit indicates whether sufficient cell material for valid test results is contained in the samples taken from the throat-nasal swab.
By the way: With ViroQ SARS-FluA/B-RSV you have great flexibility! The test kit can be combined with common RNA isolation kits and is designed for use on standard real-time cyclers. Valid results are available after 60 minutes.

Swab specimen extraction correct – test result reliable
A correct nasal/pharyngeal swab is essential for a meaningful result. While blood impurities affect performance, inadequate swabs sometimes contain too little cellular material. The ViroQ SARS-FluA/B-RSV kit rules out "false negative test results" resulting from this: In the test, the detection of a human, universally occurring gene in cells shows whether sufficient cell material is available for valid results.

One-step real-time PCR
Our test kit is designed for the specific detection of the viral RNA gene N and the RdRP of SARS-CoV-2 as well as influenza A/B or RS viruses from throat/nasal swabs. In our test kits the RNA is converted into cDNA in a one-step PCR procedure. This cDNA is amplified in the same real-time PCR protocol.

The PCR kit uses five colours that are compatible with most common real-time cyclers. We have performed tests on QuantStudio 6 (Thermo Fischer Scientific), CFX 96TM (Bio-Rad) and Lightcycler® 480 (Roche).
The evaluation is done by the software of the hardware manufacturer.
