Infectiology - our solutions
COVID-19 is a particle and aerosol-borne infection caused by the beta-coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. In most people, the virus causes mild cold symptoms such as cough, fever, rhinitis, headache and aching limbs. The impaired sense of smell and taste are also typical signs. Sometimes the course of the disease is severe and in rare cases even potentially mortal. Particularly severe shortness of breath, severe pneumonia and the infestation of the kidneys and heart muscle make rapid treatment necessary.
In order to enable a rapid, valid diagnosis, we have developed our CE IVD-certified ViroQ SARS-CoV-2 PCR rapid test. The test kit is also used to check whether there is sufficient cell material in the sample swab for valid results.
Classical influenza is mainly caused by an infection with influenza viruses, which enter the body by droplet infection / aerosols via the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, mouth and eyes. A contact / smear infection is also possible.
In about one third of those infected, hardly any signs of the disease are visible. In about two thirds of the patients, a slight fever with the typical cold symptoms can lead to a more serious illness, especially of the respiratory and cardiovascular system. The more aggressive influenza A and B viruses are mainly responsible for this. Rapid detection of these virus types is beneficial for treatment.
Above all, however, the distinction from the highly infectious SARS-CoV-2 virus is of great importance with regard to its pandemic spread.
With the new real-time PCR rapid test ViroQ SARS-FluA/B-RSV, it is possible to reliably detect whether SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A/B or RS viruses are present in the existing sample material with just one PCR run.
