Better protection of vulnerable groups from SARS-CoV-2
Wherever large infection hotspots arise quickly because many people come together (e.g. schools, authorities, airports, offices) or particularly vulnerable people (senior citizens, previously ill people) need to be protected from the highly contagious corona virus, rapid qualitative detection of SARS-CoV-2 antigens (parts of the virus) is useful. Our new SARS-CoV-2 rapid antigen test can be used to test individuals for Corona virus directly in the field. The kit is based on a specific antibody-antigen reaction and a colour reaction to detect the complexes formed.
Depending on the timing of sample collection, infection cannot be completely ruled out even with a negative result. However, the risk of infection is already significantly reduced by identifying persons with a positive test result on site.
Results are available directly on site after approx. 15 minutes. A prerequisite for a valid result is a correctly performed nasal swab sample. Therefore, the test should be used by medically trained persons. An evaluation by a laboratory, however, is not necessary. The kits can be stored at room temperature.
